How to Develop a Wikipedia Page for Your Business?


Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that ranks at the top of every search engine. This means that having a Wikipedia article for your company would prove to be highly beneficial as it can boost your online visibility, and bring attention to your brand. It is both smart and a highly dangerous and futile move. Being a free encyclopedia, Wikipedia is open for every and anyone to edit and incorporate false information about your company. However, with some best practices, you can create a successful Wikipedia page for your business. There are three steps which you can follow to create a Wikipedia page.

Step1: Determining Notability

Before you start to write a Wikipedia page, it is important that you search for your company on Wikipedia. If you own a well-known and reputable business, it is possible that someone might actually have made your Company’s Wikipedia page. If you don’t have it, you can proceed by searching for other companies on Wikipedia. You must note the pattern of how they have written the Wikipedia article in a neutral, unbiased and glorified tone. Other than that, they must also have sited the information for further information to support the article.

Locate these sources and determine whether or not you have the sources to cite your information on the Wikipedia page. This will prove that if your company is notable and worthy of having a Wikipedia page.

Step 2: create a Wikipedia account

Making an account on Wikipedia is comparatively easy. You simply have to click on “create account” on Wikipedia English home page and enter a user name in the appropriate box, adhering to Wikipedia user name policy. It is highly recommended to not enter your company name or your personal name or email address of the company as a user name on Wikipedia.

Step 3: create your article
